A Man and His Plane

Ok…so I have no way of knowing if the plane actually belongs to the man in the photo. I am just assuming. Again, I have no details of this print. I would love to know who he was. Did he build the plane? Did he own the aircraft? Or is he just an average citizen posing by the plane? I truly doubt I will ever know his story.

I did some research on the white star with a circle in the middle. But I could not find an exact match. So if anyone out there has more information on airplanes, I would love to know the details.

Until next time…peace

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I know this year’s celebrations are probably not going as planned. But I wanted to take the time to wish my followers a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

Being in Michigan, all of the bars and dine-in restaurants are closed. Both a popular choice for celebrating the holiday. But I am a firm believer in making the best out of the situation.

  • Celebrate at home.
  • Make a special meal or dessert.
  • Download a St. Patrick’s Day-themed movie.
  • Listen to Irish music.- Celtic Thunder is my favorite.
  • Do St. Patrick Day crafts.

The celebration may not be the same. But I am certain, the day will be memorable.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Until next time..peace

Party Time

I recently purchased a box of mixed slides and negatives. I took this image off a slide. I cannot find any others to match the people in the photo.

New Year’s Eve Celebration?

At first, I was guessing the gathering was on New Year’s Eve. But the party may be part of a Christmas celebration.

Here are some of my views after examining the photo:

  • The party-goers have festive hats. The tissue hats could be for Christmas or New Year’s Eve.
  • Everyone is dressed up. The clothing attire could be part of the celebration or normal for this time. I think the slide is from the late 1950s.
  • On the far left, you can see cards hanging along the wall. From the pieces I can view, the cards look to be from Christmas.
  • The napkins have small Poinsettias or other types of red flowers.
  • The food being served looks simple. Perhaps, the main meal is over, and desserts are out. Or, the party theme was snacks and sweets.

What I love about this photo?

I believe the napkins are cloth. The table setting is all washable and reusable. In fact, the cups and dishware all match. I think we depend on too many throwable items these days. I am guilty of this practice also. But I am trying to do better.

Tell me what you notice about the photo. Did I miss anything?

Until next time..peace

The Women of 818

Old photos are always a wonder to me. I do not have any information about these three women. I can tell they are at house 818. But beyond that, I do not know their story.

I do see a resemblance in their facial features. I am guessing they are related. I wonder if the woman on the right actually lives at 818. She is the only one without a coat. Perhaps, they were getting a quick photo before the other two women left.

Signs of Spring

Even though the wind still holds the winter chill, the sun is shining brightly today. I am ecstatic to see the first signs of spring. Don’t get me wrong I am positive old man winter is not done with us. But, the early signs of spring always provides an extra mood lift.

The Sandhill Cranes have been voicing their return. Their deep throating rattle is music to my ears as they fly high above me.

The return of Sandhill Cranes always means warmer weather is on the way.

The Canadian geese are very vocal down on the river flats. The snow is slowly melting away.

I see Robins searching for food in my yard. The Red-Winged Blackbirds are singing loudly. The slight warm-up brings good cheer to all creatures, not just humans.

Well, until next time…peace
