Vintage Photo: A School for Girls???

Sorting through my recent pile of photos, this one caught my eye. From the tilted potted plant on the side to the look on the girls’ faces, I would love to know more about the photo. I can guess, a boarding school for girls or finishing school. Or perhaps, they were just all together for a church choir. I truly will probably never know the real story.

Erie Canal Near Rochester

Working on photos provides me with a glimpse of the past. I am able to see a point in time. I love everyday photos from average people who may be on vacation or just out for the day. I absolutely love this old boat. The details from the photo read, “Erie Canal, near Rochester, NY, 1960″. So if anyone has any further information. I would love to hear from you.

I wish I knew more about the wooden barge. I am assuming the boat took passengers down the Erie Canal for tours. After research, I found day tripping is extremely popular around the area. (Yes, that’s now on my bucket list). I found a couple books with images from the past that I may need to add to my collection. But until then, I will just admire the photo.

Until next time…peace

World Wildlife Day

Today, March 3, 2018, is World Wildlife Day. For me celebrating the day is simple…go outdoors. Stepping outside in the Michigan sun, I can hear the Sandhills Cranes and Canadian Geese in the distance. Their arrival reminds me Spring is on the way.

I can view the birds at my feeders. Each second, I am in nature reminds me of the importance of our wildlife.

Sparrow watching me.

So, I hope you were able to step outside and view Mother Nature at her best. If not there’s always tomorrow or consider watching a DVD on wildlife. One of my favorites is the Blue Planet series.

Happy World Wildlife Day!
