Since I was 11 years old, I have loved photography. My grandpa gave me his used 126 Film Camera. (This should provide insight into my age). The camera actually took a film cartridge. I thought it was amazing. I took, it everywhere with me. Of course, cameras have drastically changed. But I still enjoy my long love affair with photography.

Now, my photography falls into three categories: wildlife & nature, travel, and vintage photo restoration. I love lighthouses. As I travel around my state, I am hoping to photograph every lighthouse in Michigan.

I am the type of person who can watch wildlife all day and not get bored.

I am new at using some of the latest tools for photo restoration. I still have a lot to learn. But I love how the photos are transformed.

Early 1940s Photo

Like most of my photos, I do not have any information. From the style of her dress and shoes, I am placing this photo in the early 1940s. She appears to be posing by a flower bush. I wonder if her dress is for a special occasion?

Of course, I am only guessing.

Packing Up

Here’s another photo from an estate sale Unfortunately, this image does not contain any written information.

The background shows rustic type cabins. There’s even deer heads sticking out over the entry ways. I would like to think they were on a vacation retreat. The hood is up which makes me think they are getting ready for the trip home. The gentleman was most likely checking all the fluid levels before traveling.

Google suggests the car is a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. But I cannot confirm the details. If someone is a car buff, please let me know if the information is correct.

The car year does coincide with the photo era. I am placing the photo in the early 1950s.

Just a Boy and His Tent–1947

This is another image from an estate sale. I was lucky with this photo. There’s a little information on the print.

If I am reading it correctly, it says. “Belden Burr Smith” with the year 1947.

I just love photo because he looks so happy to have a little tent.

Family Photo

I purchased this photos from an auction sale. There’s no identifying marks on the back of the photo. The image is an antique cabinet card photograph by Frank J. Gorzycki. According to Google, he operated a photography studio in Detroit, Michigan.

The family is dressed in formal attire which was fashionable in the 1920s.
