Happy World Snake Day

Did you know today, July 16th is World Snake Day? The unofficial holiday raises awareness of the different species of snakes. With over 3,500 species of snakes around the globe, only 600 are known to be venomous.

I am generally not afraid of snakes. I actually enjoy photographing snakes and other types of wildlife.  In fact, numerous Garter snakes hang out around my chicken coop. But, I will tell you, when I opened the coop door the other day, a snake fell down from the rafters and hit my hand. I do believe the entire county heard me scream.

Do you have snake stories?

Until next time…peace

A Home for Sale

The photo was originally from an old negative. I don’t have any background information. I can guess from the type of negative, the photo is from the late 1950s or early 60s.

I have so many questions about this photo (well, any photo really).

  • I wonder if the person who took the photo was trying to buy the house or sell it?
  • Did the photographer actually buy the house?
  • How long did they live there?
  • Did the person have a family?
  • Where is the house located? If I were to guess, I would assume Arizona. But I have no way of knowing.

Let me know what you think when you look at this old photo.

Until next time…peace
