Photo of the Day: Kildeer

Despite being small, the Kildeers, a member of the plover family of birds, are very vocal. The shrill call almost sounds like the word, “kill-deer”.

If they think, you are getting too close to their nest or young, they pretend to have a broken wing. The adult Kildeer hops and limps along to distract a predator.

In mid-Michigan, the Kildeer species are common in the summer months. When you spot a young Kildeer, you cannot help but laugh at their wobbly, little legs.

Photo of the Day: Bunny Under the Apple Trees

Almost every night, I see bunnies under the apple trees. The little fluffy creatures eat the fallen apples. They hop around and play. Well, until I walk across the yard, then they just stare at me. If they feel I am getting too close, the little rabbits will quickly run into the nearby wooded area.

Personally, I love to just watch them.

Photo of the Day: Maple River at Sunrise

“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.” – Confucius

When I was heading to work the other morning, I snapped this photo of the Maple River. On my social media page, I received a lot of opinions on how the photo was creepy. Personally, I thought the scene beautiful. I guess one could say the image is hauntingly beautiful.

What do you think?
