Church of Nazarene in Montrose

The photo is labeled Montrose Church where Wayne and Wilma married. I am assuming the location is in California. The other photos from the group are from there.

The photo and the corresponding negative were damaged. I cleaned the image up to the best of my abilities. I did research the Monstrose area to see if the church still exists. I could not find any exact matches. I think my research skills are declining since days of studying for my MBA.

I still like the photo. Of course, I enjoy old photos anyways. I am hoping Wayne and Wilma had a long, happy marriage.

Man in Uniform

Photos are glimpses of the past. Everyday memories without any documented history. Many photos in my recent lot are military related. I believe this gentleman was in the Royal Air Force. I am not 100% positive. So if I am wrong, please let me know in the comments below.

But from my knowledge of history, I believe his patch is for a pilot. In fact, I think the top of the design is a crown and the initials R.A.F. I would love to know who this gentleman was. Did he serve in WWII? Again, I am guessing from the age of the other photos.

Did he get married? Where was this photo taken? All questions lost in everyday history.

A 1952 Wedding at a Napa Church-Part 2

After searching through my latest purchase, I was disappointed not to find a photo or negative of the bride and groom. There are other photos is the group that may be part of the wedding party. But they do not have labels. I can only guess.

I did come across one more photo from the Napa Church. The photo is labeled Rev. and Mrs. Johnson-1952.

A 1952 Wedding at a Napa Church

A box full of old negatives and photographs is a treasure trove for me. I just love looking through each image. I wonder how people lived. Were they happy? Did they have children? How were they employed? I realize I will probably never know their stores. But I still like to imagine how they lived.

In this set, I found some clues. There were both negatives and the photos had labels.

The main photo is labeled Napa Church.

The next clue from outside the church is a photo with the label Mrs. Morgan-1952

I think the little boy in the bottom right corner is fascinated about the whole wedding experience.

Next photo has the label, Mr. and Mrs. McLeod…Mr. Webb-1952.

Mr. and Mrs. McLeod & Mr. Webb

I am hoping I will find more photos related to this particular day. The church is beautiful. Even with my research, I still cannot find if the church is still around today or not.

Vintage Photo: A School for Girls???

Sorting through my recent pile of photos, this one caught my eye. From the tilted potted plant on the side to the look on the girls’ faces, I would love to know more about the photo. I can guess, a boarding school for girls or finishing school. Or perhaps, they were just all together for a church choir. I truly will probably never know the real story.

Erie Canal Near Rochester

Working on photos provides me with a glimpse of the past. I am able to see a point in time. I love everyday photos from average people who may be on vacation or just out for the day. I absolutely love this old boat. The details from the photo read, “Erie Canal, near Rochester, NY, 1960″. So if anyone has any further information. I would love to hear from you.

I wish I knew more about the wooden barge. I am assuming the boat took passengers down the Erie Canal for tours. After research, I found day tripping is extremely popular around the area. (Yes, that’s now on my bucket list). I found a couple books with images from the past that I may need to add to my collection. But until then, I will just admire the photo.

Vintage Photo: Playing Horseshoes

I digitalize a lot of old photos with members of the military. I cannot tell you the branch or year. I am not that knowledgeable with history. But I do like this one, he has a smile on his face as he plays horseshoes.

Vintage Photo: Airplane Building

As I work through some of the negatives, I came across this plane picture. Well, I am assuming the structure is a plane. I can imagine, the owners are building the plane in an old bar. Of course, I am just guessing. One of these days, I am hoping someone will recognize a photo and give me a history.

Vintage Photo: Essex Farmer’s Club

I have been working a series of photos that include images from a parade. In this photo, the float is for the Essex Farmer’s Club. I did a quick search but I did not yield any quality results on the club. I know the photo was taken in St. Johns, Michigan. I do not have a year. I am hoping to find out more information as I continue to research.
