Music Observatory – Pasadena College

The image is from my latest finds. I cannot tell you if the picture is labeled music observatory or conservatory. I am assuming the writing reads music conservatory, Pasenda College. But I am not 100%.

The date is hard to read too. The original owner of the photograph wrote in pencil. So, the date either reads 1940 or 1946. Even though I did look up the information, I cannot find an exact match to the photo. If anyone knows, the history behind the photograph, please contact me. I am curious as usual.

Until next time…peace.

A 1952 Wedding at a Napa Church-Part 2

After searching through my latest purchase, I was disappointed not to find a photo or negative of the bride and groom. There are other photos is the group that may be part of the wedding party. But they do not have labels. I can only guess.

I did come across one more photo from the Napa Church. The photo is labeled Rev. and Mrs. Johnson-1952.

Until next time…peace

A 1952 Wedding at a Napa Church

A box full of old negatives and photographs is a treasure trove for me. I just love looking through each image. I wonder how people lived. Were they happy? Did they have children? How were they employed? I realize I will probably never know their stores. But I still like to imagine how they lived.

In this set, I found some clues. There were both negatives and the photos had labels.

The main photo is labeled Napa Church.

The next clue from outside the church is a photo with the label Mrs. Morgan-1952

I think the little boy in the bottom right corner is fascinated about the whole wedding experience.

Next photo has the label, Mr. and Mrs. McLeod…Mr. Webb-1952.

Mr. and Mrs. McLeod & Mr. Webb

I am hoping I will find more photos related to this particular day. The church is beautiful. Even with my research, I still cannot find if the church is still around today or not.

Until next time…peace

Polar Vortex to Ice

Last week was freezing here in mid-Michigan. The Polar Vortex gave us unbelievably frigid temperatures. Along with biting cold, the bone-chilling wind chills made me want to stay indoors. Then, we had a brief warm up to almost fifty degrees. And, now…well…we have ice everywhere. I am afraid to ask what Mother Nature has in store for us next.

I just know he (or she) is telling me, “Excuse me can you fill your bird feeders? So I can sit out here, eat, and drive your dogs insane.”

I took extra care on keeping my feeders full. I had numerous winged visitors and a few furry ones.

I think the bird was giving me the evil eye because I was interrupting lunch. Notice the thin layer of ice on the branches?

Even though, I generally do not mind winter. I mean, the changing seasons is why I enjoy Michigan. But, I must admit, I am looking forward to Spring.

Until next time..peace

Merry Christmas!

“Snow was falling,
so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.”
― Mary Oliver

We don’t have much snow in mid-Michigan right now. I was really hoping for a white Christmas. I am sure the snow will arrive soon enough.

For those who are celebrating today….Merry Christmas!

Until next time…peace
