Photo of the Day: Kildeer

Despite being small, the Kildeers, a member of the plover family of birds, are very vocal. The shrill call almost sounds like the word, “kill-deer”.

If they think, you are getting too close to their nest or young, they pretend to have a broken wing. The adult Kildeer hops and limps along to distract a predator.

In mid-Michigan, the Kildeer species are common in the summer months. When you spot a young Kildeer, you cannot help but laugh at their wobbly, little legs.

Until next time…peace

The Silence of Winter at Sunset

Yes, I know it is not officially winter. But the mid-Michigan weather suggests otherwise. We have been experiencing frigid temperatures. Anyone who follows this blog knows I love sunsets (and sunrises). So I still think the caption is fitting.

Have a wonderful day.

How’s the weather in your area?

Until next…peace

Winter Has Arrived

I was playing around with some software.  Winter has definitely arrived in Mid-Michigan.  The temps are so cold…below zero with the high of the day being 9 degrees and a wind chill of minuse 24.  Brrr!  I haven’t been able to get out and take many photos.  It’s a little too cold for me.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far…..
