7 Days Black and White Challenge: Day 1

Right now on social media, the 7 days black and white challenge is extremely popular. I finally decided to participate.  So this is the first photo from last night. I am not a big still life photography person. I would rather be outdoors. But once in a while, a creative mood hits me to try something different.

Challenge: 7 Days, 7 Black & White Photos, No humans, No explanations

Day 1

30 Days of Thanks- Day 10-Music

“I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity.

It’s something we are all touched by.

No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.”

Billy Joel

Today, November 10, 2015, I am thankful for music. I know I mentioned music yesterday when I said, I was thankful for YouTube. But I wanted to expand on how much I love music. I listen to all types of music. I cannot pinpoint one specific genre. I listen to everything from opera to hard rock.

I actually listen to music more than I watch television. I tend to write for hours at a time; having music in the background helps with my creative thought process. If I am writing a sad or dramatic scene, opera and classic music help the story unfold. I use classic rock or anything with a thumping base for writing a scene filled with intense emotions.

For the most part, I do purchase my music online. The process is simple. I get my music instantly. Other times, I will be walking through a store and spot a new cd and I throw the item in my cart.

What is your favorite music? Do you have a favorite group or band?

Until next time….peace.

30 Days of Thanks-Day 4-My Parents

Today, November 4, 2015, is the 4th day in the 30 Days of Thanks challenge. Well, today I am thankful for my parents. My parents live right next to me which I really enjoy. We try to help each other out when needed. The were married young but they have been together ever since which is the only that matters.

One of the best perks of living next to my parents is being about to go out to breakfast with them. So, this morning just after the sun came up. We went out for pancakes at a local truck stop restaurant which is one of the few places my father will go. I enjoy listening to their stories and their take on the daily happenings. I admit we have pretty different views on life, politics, news, etc. But, I think that just makes the conversation more interesting.

30 Days of Thanks

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing

it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

William Arthur Ward

So I was asked to participate in a couple different challenges for the month of November. The first one is the “30 Days of Thanks” challenge. The basic concept behind the challenge is to give thanks to all your blessings throughout the month of November. The reason for November is for the Thanksgiving holiday. Even though, I personally feel you should be thankful every day of the year for what you have in your life. I do like the idea of dedicating a whole month to recognizing specific details.

Day 1

I am thankful for my house and where I live. My house is old. Like any old house, the place has some issues. The old structure could use a new roof and a fresh coat of paint. But, I still love the old place. I have wood fireplace that I absolutely enjoy during the cold, winter months of Michigan. One of the best parts of where my house is located; my parents’ house is right next door. I get to see them on a daily basis.

So, is anyone else out there participating in the challenge? I would love to hear (or read) your daily thanks.
