Happy Earth Day

Did you celebrate Earth Day? I was happy to spend time outdoors. I cleaned up the yard a little, took some photos, and planned where to put my flower gardens.

If you look closely, you can see the fish on tip of the pole. This Osprey was enjoying his meal.
The Vultures were snacking on roadkill. I got really close to them before they decided to move along. I laugh every time I see these birds. My mom loved them.

I hope you managed to get outdoors today.

Have you ever watch a Cormorant dive?

Happy Earth Day! Let’s work together for the sake of our planet.

Bay City Wedding

I purchased a large box of 8×10 photos. All the images are beautiful wedding photos. This image is tucked inside a larger folder. The bottom of the top matte reads Agdanowski Studio, Bay City. Unfortunately, there’s no year on the photo. Based on the style of clothing, I would guess early 1920s.

I love the bride’s dress. I wish I could see the color of the flowers. Everyone looks so proper and fine for the wedding day. I think the bridesmaid resembles the bride. I wonder if they are sisters.

What do you think?

Welcome 2025!

Happy New Year! Our first day of 2025 has been cold and a little snowy here in Mid-Michigan. On my way into town this morning, I snapped some photos. Of course, I didn’t have the right lens with me. But I still managed. We had Canadian Geese down at the Maple River.

And, then I had a flock of Turkeys fly right in front of my vehicle. I am glad I was on a back road and going slow.

Thank you for following this blog. I have been busy purchasing estate lots. I cannot wait to share some of my findings with you. I just need to organize them first.

Take care!

Exploring a 1925 Communion Photo from Detroit

I picked up a box of photos yesterday from an auction sale. I believe this one is a communion photo. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The photo gives the year: 1925.

The photographer: Frank J. Gorzycki

Location: 7719 Harper Ave., Detroit, Michigan. (I was curious. I researched the location on Google Maps. But, the building is no longer there.)

Unfortunately, there is no name or other identifying information on the photo.

Let me know, your view of the photo.

Until next time…peace.

Happy October

The spooky season is officially here. I love October. The cooler weather and changing leaves are perfect for photography.

I was out photographing spiderwebs in the fog. Yes, I know, I’m a little odd. I found the spiderwebs beautiful.

I took this photo down at the wildlife area. To me, the dew-covered spiderwebs look like Mother Nature is decorating for Halloween early.

I hope everyone has a fantastic month.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

I photographed this majestic bird the other day. He (I think) was down at the Maple River (mid-Michigan area). I bet I took over 400 pictures of him. Yes, I was far away. I used my long lens. I didn’t want to disturb him too much. Even though, I know he could see me.

Based on his feather pattern, I believe, he is about 1 1/2 years old. He was a spectacular sight. I hope I see him in the area again.

Have a great day!

Until next time…peace.

Just Peeking

I took a backroad home from town. I was driving slowly. I knew I had seen something in the ditch. So, I stopped my car to look. My dad was with me. We kept searching but didn’t see anything at first.

Then, this crane’s head popped up just above the ditch line. I think he was telling me, “Yes, you saw me, now go on your way.” He did not seemed bothered by our presence. Other than the fact, that we were disturbing his food search.

Turkey Vulture

Did you have a fun-filled Labor Day weekend? I stuck close to home. I worked on photos, writing, and housework. I know, an odd combination.

I did go for a ride. I came across these beautiful Turkey Vultures. The one kept opening his (or her) wings. I believe the bird was trying to soak up the sun.

I am fascinated with these birds. My mom use to love them. She said, they were so ugly, they were beautiful. Of course, I find everything in nature has a touch of beauty.

Well, have a good night.

Until next time…peace

Lake Superior Day

Today is Lake Superior Day. I am from Michigan. I did not know this day existed. But, I love visiting the shorelines of Lake Superior, especially at White Fish Point.

Rocks from Whitefish Point.

Whitefish Point was one of my mom’s favorite destinations. She loved looking through all the rocks. To me, the place is just beautiful.

Do you have a favorite place to stop on the shores of Lake Superior? Let me know in the comments!
