Playing Outdoors

If I were to guess, I would say the boy in the photo is about 3 years old. He seems to be enjoying his time outdoors. From his clothing and the motor home in the background, I estimate the image was taken in the late 1940s.

I do have a couple other frames in this particular lot that show motor homes in a line. I cannot match them to this specific image. The young boy’s clothes are heavy and durable. In addition, he is wearing a hat to cover his ears, which leads me to believe the weather is cooler.

Of course, I have no way of known if the family is visiting a campground or living in a park area. I know many families would live out of motor homes to be close to work areas.

Tell me what you think.

Old Airplane

Can you imagine watching this airplane leave the ground for the first time?

The airplane image came from a bunch of negatives that I purchased on eBay. A lot of the negatives were beyond repair. But I managed to pull this image off one.

What do you think? Can anyone provide any information on this beautiful airplane?

Old Military Photos

My knowledge of military transport is minimal. If anyone can provide details, I would love to learn more. I am assuming the photo is from the late 1940s. But I am only guessing.

These two photos were also part of this grouping.

I would love to know their history, their names, and the story behind this photo.

The negatives were extremely damaged. I did the best of my abilities to fix them. But you can tell the extent of the wear over the years.

This photo came in a group of numerous negatives. Many of the photos are military in nature. I am hoping to share them all with you over the next few months.

A Writer? A Teacher? A Nature Lover?

For those who follow this blog, you already know I love old photos. But there are some images; I just crave to know more about the person and the circumstances surrounding the photo. This image of a woman sitting at a makeshift picnic table is one of them.

I wonder if the woman is camping with friends. From the overly packed picnic basket, I am assuming she is on a trip. Perhaps, she is at a public park near her home.

I wonder what she is writing. Is she grading her students’ latest papers? Writing letters to loved ones? Keeping a journal of her trip? Or working on a novel? Of course, I will never know.

The picnic basket is overflowing, which makes me think she is there for more than a day. I spotted a loaf of bread with the words “Quaker.” across the package. I can see the coffee pot in the background. There are multiple jars with different contents; one may contain sugar. Perhaps, a jelly is in another jar.

I see a pail for water on the left, which makes sense if she is making coffee over a fire. One aspect that I absolutely love about this photo, no plastic containers or throw away single-serve items. Everything extra is in glass containers.

What do you spot in this photo? Anything different than me?

Woman in a Garden

Studying the photo, I would guess the image was taken in the early 1950s. I am basing my guess on the woman’s hairstyle and the type of negative. What do you think?

I don’t have any information on the photo. She is standing by a cartoony looking character.

The plants toward the back are Holly Hocks. I actually have the red Holly Hocks at my house.

I can see the top of a church peeking over the brick building. From the architectural style,  I am guessing the church is Catholic. I wonder if the brick building is part of the church, perhaps, a Catholic school or hospital.

I wonder if the photo was taken in a public garden. I can imagine a beautiful garden located in the downtown city area.

What do you see when you look at the photo? Did I miss anything?

Vintage Photo: 4 Men

Like most of my photos, I do not have any details on this image.

At first glance, I thought maybe the four men were posing after church services. They do resemble each other appearance. Which left me guessing, maybe they were getting together on Easter Sunday.

But I did notice, one of the women in the background is dressed all in black. Her appearance leads me to think the 4 men were attending a funeral. Do I know for certain, of course not?

What do you think?

Reserved for Seabreeze Customers

I love this photo. Of course, who am I kidding, I love most old images. I am assuming this photo was taken in the mid-1940s. I based my guess on the photo negative and the style of the couple’s clothing. If I am off, please let me know.

The one sign reads, “reserved for Seabreeze customers, ice-cold soft drinks, beer, groceries.”

The other sign reads, “live bait.” Obviously, the Seabreeze is near a fishing area. Perhaps, people can fish off the pier.

The couple, holding hands, appears to be headed towards the pier. I am guessing they are going to watch the ships go by or talk with the local fishermen.

When I research, Seabreeze hotel, I get numerous returns. I cannot pinpoint the exact location from this one photo. I am hoping as I continue through the remaining negatives from this particular lot. I will find more images related to this couple and the Seabreeze.

Do you have any guesses? I would love to know.

Until next time…peace

A Home for Sale

The photo was originally from an old negative. I don’t have any background information. I can guess from the type of negative, the photo is from the late 1950s or early 60s.

I have so many questions about this photo (well, any photo really).

  • I wonder if the person who took the photo was trying to buy the house or sell it?
  • Did the photographer actually buy the house?
  • How long did they live there?
  • Did the person have a family?
  • Where is the house located? If I were to guess, I would assume Arizona. But I have no way of knowing.

Let me know what you think when you look at this old photo.

Vintage Photo: A Man and His Basket

I really like this older photo. Of course, I do not have any facts or other information surrounding the image. All my input is simply guesswork.

The older gentleman is holding a small wicker basket. To me, the basket looks to be lined with a napkin or cloth, which was a common practice for fresh baked goods or other food.

In my opinion, de looks to be a hard-working man. With the silo in the background, I am assuming he is a farmer.

Now, he could have prepared the basket himself. Perhaps, he is attending a social event. After church picnics and other community social gatherings were common in the past.

Or perhaps, someone brought him a basket of baked goods as a gift.

Please let me know what you think of the image.

Until next time…peace

Vintage Photo: Airplane Factory

In my opinion, this image reminds me of an airplane factory tour. Perhaps, the men in suits are investors or members of the board.

Even after enlarging the photos, I do not view any identifying marks on the airplanes. If anyone knows what types of planes are in the image, I would love your input.

Tell me what you think of the photo?

Until next time…peace
